Volunteering

As many of you know, in October we had a real-life opportunity for volunteers to assist in a number of ways in the aftermath of “Winter Storm Alfred”.  It was thanks to the New Milford CERT Team (all volunteer) as well as other friends and neighbors from area churches, business, municipal, and volunteer groups that those in need were well served at a time of crisis.

Volunteers are the heart of the New Milford community.  New Milford Health Department volunteers are important to support our staff in our various Public Health responsibilities.  Volunteers assist at all types of public events such as flu clinics, rabies clinics, and educational forums.  Our volunteers are a large component of our general community emergency preparedness and planning.  The volunteers are contacted approximately four times a year (quarterly) to maintain accurate contact information and to offer occasional training in emergency preparedness topics.  We rely on having both medical and non-medical volunteers in our database so that we could assemble a team to serve the community at a moment’s notice.

We encourage you to consider becoming part of our growing group of Health Department volunteers regardless of any skills that you may or may not have.  We’ll train you to suit any opportunity to help!

Thank you in advance for your interest in becoming a part of this vital partnership!
