HOW TO SUBMITT TICKS TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT
- Live ticks should be submitted in a clear plastic zip-lock bag with a few blades of fresh, broad green grass.
- Dead ticks should be submitted in plastic zip-lock bag. (No film containers, no ticks on tape ) Dry ticks are easier to process than those in alcohol or other liquids.
- Alive or dead, if you have more than one tick, place each in a separate zip-lock bag.
- Include name, address, phone number, date tick was removed and body part whit it was attached.
- Deliver to the Health Department, New Milford Town Hall, Second Floor, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Results will be sent to the Health Department in writing. For live ticks, results are sent in about 1 week of receipt, for dead ticks, about 2-3 weeks. The Health Department will forward these results to the person requesting information.
